A Home For The Holidays: SNBB Seeks LTR With HWANDF

The ad should’ve read “Single Newborn Baby Boy seeks Long Term Relationship with Healthy, Well Adjusted Non-Dysfunctional Family.” This may be just another case of Craigslist Tomfoolery, but News 8 Austin is reporting that an ad posted on Craigslist dated November 30th sought out prospective leads for an online adoption. The ad (which has since been removed) declared:
Newborn Baby Up For Adoption: This beautiful newborn baby boy of age 9/10 months old, is reported as healthy and calm, A family with approved home study is preferred but all others are accepted on a case by case basis.
This beautiful newborn baby boy of age 9/10 months old is
reported as healthy and calm.
According to the news report, the ad is perfectly legal if it was posted by the child’s birth parent and if no cash is exchanged. Texas DFPS stated that the ad does not indicate possible neglect and does not warrant an investigation. Despite attempts to contact the person who posted the ad, News 8 Austin has unsurprisingly not gotten a response.

The interesting disturbing part of this ad lies in the details. If the ad was posted by the child’s parents, we would hope they would be certain about his reportedly healthy and calm demeanor as well as knowing the child’s actual age instead of guesstimatin’ it. The ad is further alarming with the used car salesman “Or Best Offer” pitch that implies the creator of the ad would consider options outside their ideal approved family. Sadly, this is not the first time Craigslist has been used to pawn off spawn.

So, if you’re stumped about what to get your cousin Sally for Christmas, a Craigslist baby may be just the thing...
