No one hates fun, most people don't hate the Alamo. I certainly don't, I couldn't live without it. Just sharing my opinion, as are most people here. Why the hatred against people having opinions? In the real word opinions are what make the world turn, online it just makes people hate and act like pricks...
Nice to see DH somewhere besides my inbox!

Hey, thanks for the reply, Henry.

I love the programming at the Alamo, but frequently I shake my head at the pricing. The music mondays and weird wednesdays are the best things going on at the Alamo.

Where are the pricing problems? $17.75 for Harold & Kumar + all-you-can-eat 'mini-burgers' is steep. It harkens back to Spaghetti Western night with all-you-can-eat spaghetti for $17. It's hard for me to think of a meal that's cheaper to produce than Spaghetti, but those microwaved mini-burgers are probably close.

But hey, if you guys fill those seats, it's in the Alamo's best interest to jack up the prices until a few of those seats are empty. As a consumer, it's in my best interest if more restaurants would start showing movies. In Portland, Oregon, there are bunches of restaurant-theaters and they charge much more reasonable prices for admission as well as food.

I'm going to valet my porsche when I go see this. And order a bucket of red bull and vodkas. And wear a stripped shirt. And make fun of foreign people. And fat chicks. I will call someone on my cell phone and tell them about how cool the show is when it's going on so they will know I'm a fucking player. I will eat the carne guisado stew because it is delicious and will smell up the entire theatre while I chuckle about shopping smart, shopping S-Mart. You got that!?!?

Why is there so much hate against a $10 show? It sounds like a fun idea and if you don't like it then just don't go.

Face!

There actually are production costs whenever we screen retrospective titles, Seth, and we do split the box office with the studios so that they can pay their writers.

And when we do a Quote-Along or extra something something with a movie, our production costs go up more as we add in props and extra labor. For the Blazing Saddles show, for instance, we gave the audience cap guns and whoopee cushions and a whole lot of beans. None of those are a platinum grill or flashy new spinners for your ride, but they aren't just sparklers.

I like sparklers, though. They make me feel special. If only there was somewhere I could go that would give me that special feeling AND alcohol...

As for whether having fans of a movie enjoying it with you loudly ruins it for you ahaley, that's certainly a matter of taste. Personally, I like having people shut up for some movies and like being able to be louder at parties like the Quote-Alongs and Sing-Alongs. But I'm all sorts of biased, aren't I?

Yes. Yes, I am.

Hail to the King of crappy events baby. $10 to have annoying people ruin the movie for me?! I love Alamo and I love their events, but this is one concept I just don't get. Oh well, there's many more screens for me....

It's $10 because the new Alamo is made of ice and it costs a LOT of money to keep it frozen.

Why is this $10? There isn't any extra production cost for the Alamo to screen this print. In fact, it's cheaper for Tim League to screen an old print than having to split box office with the studios for a first-run movie.

Talk about gouging the fans...
