KUT Wants You for Next Generation Radio
Before you get too bogged down with finals, papers, end-of-the-semester projects, etc., you might consider this for next semester: KUT is currently taking applications for their Spring Break/SxSW Intern Program. Interns in this program will undergo an intensive week-long audio journalism training program under guidance from KUT and NPR staff. KUT is looking for two student journalists to cover Film and three to cover Music during the SxSW Festival. You must be at least 18, enrolled in a college/university, and have no more than 3 years of radio experience. The cutoff date for application packages is January 25, 2008, so you have time to start preparing.
More details after the jump.
The dates for the program are March 9th-March 15th, 2008. To apply, you must send in:
- A resume complete with work history and all your current contact Information.
- A CD of your best news stories, features, or interviews that have aired on radio.
- A one paragraph description of your audio portfolio.
- A brief one-page cover letter that tells why you are interested in a career in media and lists your email, snail mail, and phone contact info at home and school.
- Two written “story pitches” of ideas (relevant to SxSW). Your story could air on NPR (if selected) and should be no longer than 5 minutes. Each pitch should be summarized in a short paragraph. List possible interview subjects (and why you choose them). Don't forget to include a photocopy of your valid student ID.
All of this will be sent to the Project's Manager; see the KUT link for his address information. Good luck!
