Dear Diary, We Can't Wait For Wednesday: Teen Witch Sing-Along!

Teen Witch Sing-Along
Wednesday, November 28th
Alamo Drafthouse Downtown (320 E 6th Street)
$10, 7:30PM
[info] | [tickets]
Don't be ashamed. We know that you love all of those makeover shows and weep at the end when the new house/face/wardrobe is revealed and completely changes someones life, or at least their outlook on it. However, how often do those houses/faces/wardrobes come with magical powers and mind boggling musical numbers? Um, like, never, which is what makes the 80s cult classic Teen Witch the apex of Cinderella-like entertainment. The Alamo Drafthouse will totally back us up on this, as Wednesday night they are, for the second time in less than six months, screening our (and soon to be your) favorite reluctant musical/sorceress movie, complete with subtitles for our collective Sing-Along pleasure.

Let's face it, there are very few movies in the world that elicit squeals from post-30-year old men. But back in June, the first time that the Alamo announced they had succumbed to the enchanting spell of Louise Miller and her tutu-laced powers, our now 33-year-old brother assaulted our eardrums with glee filled excitations, which was just a glimpse of what awaited us at the actual screening. Grown women, and men, were literally jumping out of their seats from the hypnotic powers of pseudo-rap "Top That," locker room chant "I Like Boys," and power ballad "Finest Hour." We went to see Enchanted this weekend with our super rad Mom (because that is what you do on holidays, you watch corny "family" movies with your elementary school librarian mother) and not a single person squealed or jumped out of their seat. Top That, indeed.

Still don't believe us? Check out our interview with songwriter Larry Weir from the last time Teen Witch came through town. You know that when middle eastern financiers demand that a movie be "sexed-up", it's gonna be good. And thanks to the Alamo you will be able to sing along to "Most Popular Girl," even if you haven't written the lyrics in your diary like we have.
