Austinist Show Giveaway: Tom Brosseau & Nickel Creek at Stubb's

Nickel Creek & Tom Brosseau
Saturday, November 17
Stubbs (801 Red River)
$25 Advance; Doors 7 p.m.
[info] | [tickets]
Singer-songwriter Tom Brosseau brings heartfelt lyricism and mellow melodies to Stubb’s on Saturday. Hailing from Grand Forks, North Dakota, Brosseau’s high pitched voice and gentle guitar complement his sincere storytelling perfectly, and has found him at least one fan in a certain Natalie Portman. Portman picked Brosseau’s “Plaid Lined Jacket” (along with tracks by Norah Jones, Beirut, Rogue Wave, and yes, The Shins) for her charity compilation, Big Change: Songs for FINCA (available for $7.99 off iTunes). Brosseau himself is now a veteran of numerous full-lengths, the latest of which, Cavalier, was released last month on FatCat Records.

California’s Nickel Creek (nearing the end of their Farewell (For Now) tour) headline this very special evening at Stubb’s, fresh on the heels of a taping for NPR’s All Songs Considered on November 2nd. The trio’s soothing bluegrass won them many an admirer at the 2006 Austin City Limits Music Festival and although the act has decided to take a break after this tour, their soft Americana strains will pacify the evening Austin air one more time this Saturday night. Check it out on us!

Congrats, winner!
