Austinist Show Giveaway: Sondre Lerche at The Parish

Sondre Lerche & Dan Wilson
Friday, November 16
The Parish Room (214 East Sixth Street)
$15 Advance; Doors 8 p.m.
[info] | [tickets]
Sondre Lerche (pronounced lair-kay) is hailed as a something of a wonderkid in his native Norway. The child prodigy started receiving guitar lessons at the age of eight, and his keen ear for melody along with his songwriting ability led to couple of EP’s early in his career for Virgin Norway. He was still a teenager when he recorded his impressive full-length debut, Faces Down. The album was released in the US in 2002 on Astralwerks and featured the absolutely wonderful “Sleep On Needles.” Lerche has expertly walked a fine line between folk-rock simplicity and jazz-pop arrangements throughout his fertile career, releasing a number of stellar albums including 2006’s Duper Sessions, a jazz record backed by The Faces Down Quartet. This year has been another prolific one in the life of Lerche -- he released Phantom Punch early in the year before contributing a collection of material, both old and new, to the Dan In Real Life soundtrack. Check out the show at The Parish on us!
