Okay Let’s Go: Okay Mt. Features Staff Creations for E.A.S.T.

In its two years of existence, East Austin's Okay Mountain hasn’t been big on exhibiting pieces created by the small group of local artists who run the place—instead, the gallery usually brings in artists from around the country to show work.

But this weekend, Okay Mountaineers will have their day in the sun.

In conjunction with this weekend's East Austin Studio Tour, Okay Mountain will premier a new show, Introduction to Mountain Making: Okay Mountain Staff, featuring works by nine of its artists. These include Sterling Allen, Tim Brown, Peat Duggins, Justin Goldwater, Nathan Green, Ryan Hennessee, Josh Rios, Michael Sieben, and Corkey Sinks.

The work will range from drawings and paintings to wall installations and video pieces.

“We’ve been open for two years and it hasn’t been our M.O. to show our own work,” said Sterling Allen, an artist and member of the Okay Mountain Staff. “This is our one opportunity to show our work. There is really good work being made and shown. This is a good time to see what’s out there.”

Also during E.A.S.T., Okay Mountain will be releasing a new book of collaborative drawings, entitled Volume 1. Each includes a one-of-a-kind dust jacket and an original drawing, and will be available for $30.

Introduction to Mountain Making: Okay Mountain Staff runs through Dec. 16
