John Washburn of Milwaukee programmed his computer to automatically send out two requests a week for all government e-mail generated by Perry staffers. Under state law, records aren't supposed to be destroyed once somebody has asked for them.
The governor's office said they will comply with Washburn's requests, which forced officials to stop the automatic destruction of e-mail that had been taking place every seven days. Spokewoman Krista Moody added that Perry's office receives a high volume of e-mail and doesn't have the server space to keep them forever.
Gmail, anyone?

I read this in the Statesman on Sunday, my first reaction was that Perry not having his own email account wasn't such a big deal but the more I thought about it, the more dubious it became.
And on the storage of emails, since when did they have to be stored online? Didn't they ever hear of archiving, or simply copy off on to DVD once per quarter and putting the DVD somewhere safe?
Heck its on;ly the Governors office, nothing important here, move along.
that's bad ass. and no space? please. 1TB drives are nearing the $200 mark.
