Austinist Show Giveaway: The Evens at The Compound

The Evens
Sunday, November 11
The Compound (1300 E 4th St)
$5, 7:30 p.m.
[info]
A legend will grace east side venue The Compound for a very special early show this Sunday night. Ian MacKaye (of Minor Threat and Fugazi fame) teamed up with Amy Farina (The Warmers) to form The Evens in 2001. Their self-titled debut record was released in 2005 on MacKaye’s Dischord Records and Get Evens dropped the year after. The Evens’ soft, harmonious tunes might seem a far cry from some of the MacKaye’s previous work but his baritone guitar combines naturally with Farina’s resourceful drumming and the new material is not sans MacKaye’s political insight. The duo’s vocal interplay bears an inherent understanding and Farina especially stands out with her expert delivery. Check it out on us! Enter to win tickets to the performance, which starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. with no opening act.

The Dischord site says 8:30 (as does the MySpace page which seems to have copied the Dischord info).

Are you sure it's 7:30? Where'd you get that information?

And there are still issues with the contest entry forms in Firefox. The right side (submit button) is clipped off and the little information box under the picture is superimposed over the contest entry form on the left.
