SXSW Updates
Interactive + ScreenBurn
- The preliminary list of Interactive panels has been released, and includes topics like "The Great Debate: Is Web 2.0 Bulls#!t?", "The Porn Police: Know the Rules," and "The Suxorz: The Worst Ten Social Media Ad Campaigns of 2007." [Preliminary List]
- Additional, several panels for the gaming-centric ScreenBurn fest have been revealed. These include "The Future Virtual World Game Development: Rise of the Indies," "You Are Here: Gaming and User’s Geolocation in Web 2.0," and "You’re the Pawn, Sucker: a Google Maps-Nintendo Mash-up" [Preliminary List]
- The deadline to nominate a new website for the 2008 SXSW Web Awards is Friday, December 14. This award is meant to "uncover the best new websites and celebrate those who are building and implementing tomorrow's online trends." [Submit Your Site]

- The early deadline to submit films is next Friday, November 16, with the cheaper application rates of $25 for shorts and $35 for features. Music
- Bands and record labels, pay attention! You need to get all applications in by midnight tomorrow. [Apply to Showcase]
- After last year's non-official party shutdowns and general shenanigans, this year's contract for showcasing bands has been carefully revised to make things clearer. Austin Music Blog has the details on the exclusivity clause, and Idolator went ahead and interviewed an anonymous "industry heavy" about the rewrites.
