Austinite Natalie Tischler's reworked vintage jewelry, Ornamental Things, has a strong magnetic pull on us every time we walk into Parts and Labour. It's always hard to decide what's cooler, the button rings or the dangle-y earring and necklaces she creates from things found at flea markets. Natalie's bringing her beautiful pieces to Stitch for the fourth year in a row.

When did you start collecting vintage pieces, reworking them and where do you get them?

I started collecting and wearing vintage jewelry in high school when I did most of my shopping at garage sales. I began reworking vintage pieces about 15 years ago when I first started making jewelry. I made beaded necklaces and embellished them with old pendants and brooches I would find in thrift stores. Nowadays, I find most of my items at flea markets. I get a thrill from finding a new way to use something, but searching out new materials is my favorite part of the process.

Who are some of your favorite designers/crafters at this year's Stitch?

I can’t wait to see the newest mustache bags and silk totes by Bolsa Bonita. I am also excited to see Victrola Studio’s latest T-shirts. On the runway, I am looking forward to seeing Chia’s amazing work.
