After a painful four month hiatus, the Music Mondays film series has finally returned to the Alamo Drafthouse! Huzzah! The series will no longer be curated/hosted by Kier-La Janisse (who has left Austin to return to the wilds of Canada), but the first batch of programming looks strong, beginning tonight with Susan Dynner's Punk's Not Dead, a documentary look at the past, present and future of the punk movement.

The question at hand is this: has punk survived its acquisition by billion dollar clothing corporations and multinational media conglomerates? And is it even possible for a legitimate underground scene to exist at a time when punk is being bought, sold and accessorized at every mall in America? The answers may surprise you.

The film features interviews, performances, and behind-the-scenes moments with so many bands, labels, fans, and writers that we can't even list 'em all. But they include modern mall favorites like Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys, Simple Plan and Sum 41, as well as OGs like Minor Threat, Ramones, Black Flag, Buzzcocks, Germs and Stiff Little Fingers.

We're super excited that Music Mondays is back, and we highly recommend you check it out every week, starting tonight. See you there!
