If you think the current construction is heading towards Riverside, you have no clue what the real problem with Riverside was. Hint: cheap construction is OK; cheap dumb construction that requires college kids to drive everywhere (or take a stupid slow stuck-in-traffic shuttle bus) isn't.

Actually, to quote the article, "UNO is officially an opt-in plan...None of the nine fraternities or sororities, which are nonprofit organizations, have opted in and say they have no plans to redevelop their properties." Thus, they are not officially governed by the law yet face the adverse affects of it and the resulting boom of poorly built "luxury" condos/apartments that will soon turn West Campus into Riverside part deaux. Finally, to pay 420-620 a month to share a room in a 102-year-old house? I would hope that Tejas would slash "market prices" in half.

$210-310/month? What kind of bubble do these people live in? They're expecting us to feel sympathy for their property tax hikes when they're paying 50% of market rate? Sounds like the property tax hikes are not keeping up fast enough with the property value.
