Stitch Preview: Austinist Interviews I Like Apple Juice

I Like Applejuice is the playful and witty work of Travis Nichols. Travis wears many hats as an artist, writer and a rocker. He's also been profiled in VegNews Magazine as one of the "25 Most Fascinating Vegetarians!"

Where else do you sell your work?

I sell stuff at Parts & Labour here in town, and also on my website. I also have an Etsy store that has current art
for sale, as well.

What is your design/art background?

I'm an artist/illustrator/comic-drawer in Austin. I studied mostly photography and digital imaging in college, and now I'm paying back my loans by doing something else. Neat. I do comics for Nickelodeon Magazine, and I paint a bunch of silly crap.

What are you going to be selling this year at Stitch?

At Stitch, I'll be selling greeting cards, buttons, door hangers, Texas necklaces, doodle books, and more. I'll sell the chair I'm sitting in if the price is right.

Tell me about your punk rock etiquette book and being profiled in VegNewsMagazine.

I'm currently writing and illustrating a funny how-to for punk/indie/DIY bands. It's aimed at teens and up, and it'll be out about this time next year. I have all of these friends with books out now! It's like the Beat Generation! But without the murder. And it's mostly how-to and craft books. It's not like the Beat Generation at all.

Oh. VegNews Magazine. They selected me as one of the "25 Most Fascinating Vegetarians". I shared a page with Stella McCartney, who, by the way, hasn't returned a SINGLE PHONE CALL.

What are you looking forward to at Stitch this year?

This is my third Stitch. Two years ago I worked the Parts & Labour booth and sold my stuff there. Last year I shared with the Austin Craft Mafia. This year I'm striking it out on my own. I'm scared.

  • Paper: The paper option is another common variable for printed materials.
For door hangers, much like their printing options you can have different
options regarding the sides. You can have glossy coating on both sides of the
door hanger if needed. If you only have one sided door hanger design, then the
other side can just have uncoated paper to save money.
