We are talking about a man who was recently described as a "true master teacher" in a press elease by the very district that now is sueing to have his license to teach revoked.
(Eanes ISD News Release "Westlake's AP Physics Program Rated Best in the World" dated January 25, 2005)

If you have any comments you would like to share with them, you can reach the Eanes School District Board of Trustees at:

Eanes ISD should go straight to hell, possibly after dying in a fire. In less reactionarily retarded states, they simply wouldn't be allowed to avoid most of their responsibility to pay to educate students without their silver-spoon advantages (and, no, Robin Hood doesn't begin to cover it -- it's a stupid formula that lets rich districts with a lot of kids off way easier than they would with a statewide income tax funding system, for instance).

Good job Westlake. You embarrass us all again. It is shameful, and downright immoral to hold a teacher back from making a difference among students who are already held back by socio-economic circumstances -- the kind that prevent them from having a silver spoon in their mouths and everything in life laid out before them like platter.

Westlake can truly afford to loose Mr. Harper b/c Westlake kids already have disproportionate number of advantages in life.

Remember, sharing is caring.

And yes, I have the authority to say this...as embarrassed as I am to admit it (b/c I don't drive a sports car or have a trust fund) I went to Westlake.

as a westlake alumni, i am horrified by the article about the wonderful dan harper. mr. harper and mr. misage are two of the most amazing teachers i have ever had, and they are the only reasons why i not only got good grades in physics, but genuinely loved it.

i understand the westlake administration being disappointed in losing mr. harper. however, he brought some amazing academic achievements to that school, a school which is all too often only thought of for its football team and parking lot full of very expensive cars.

anytime a school district ties the hands of a truly gifted teachers, and keeps them from providing their talents to other students to benefit from, they should be ashamed of themselves. because, while they may be trying to punish dan harper for breaking the rules in terminating his contract, they are really just punishing the many other students who could be learning from a fun, smart and gifted teacher.

Holy shit! As if I wasn't embarrassed enough to have gone to Westlake already!! :(

God forbid someone wants to help lower-income students perform better in school.
