Austinist FFFFest Giveaway: Broadcasting Channel Three
Somewhere in between catchy melodies on Stage 1 and pulsating beats on Stage 3 lies a catalog of punk rock bands waiting to rock your nuts off at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Among them, a punk act from fertile California will occupy Stage 2 at 2:40 p.m. on November 4th. CH3 (that’s Channel Three, not the hydrocarbon unit) formed in 1980 in Los Angeles and their politically charged tracks like “Manzanar” soon became fodder for the rebellious youth as well as the occasional icon (John Peel). Although their early sound was straight up punk and hardcore, the band started incorporating traditionally un-punk elements (like the harmonica!) into their music in due time, losing some fans but gaining new ones no doubt at gigs with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and gasp, Midnight Oil! After a number of releases (and a short-lived deal with Enigma Records) in the 80’s, the band was largely out of the picture in the 90’s before putting out a self-titled album in 2002 on Dr. Strange Records and most recently, a picture disc with two new songs on Suburbia Records.
Check out the preview for One More For All My True Friends (a documentary by Homeschool Productions on CH3) after the jump, and of course, enter to win tickets to the festival.

Coincidentally, CH3 is one of the major reasons I bought passes to FFF!
