Keep Austin Blogging
Austinites are at the forefront of the blogging community, according to a new report published by a leading market research firm.
Scarborough Research's new survey found that Austin tops other tech-heavy cities—Portland, San Francisco and Seattle rounded out the top four—when it comes to folks who either read or contribute to a blog. Fully fifteen percent of adults in Austin interact with blogs in some fashion; the research firm attributes this to both the tech savvy and youthful qualities of our local population.
"Not surprisingly, the cities that rank highly for bloggers are also prominent Internet usage markets. Austin and San Francisco adults, for example, are more likely than the average to have a broadband connection at home," said Gary Meo, senior vice president, print and digital media services. "Additionally, Austin, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle are markets
with large high-tech economies."
Other Texas cities on the list included Dallas/Fort Worth (11%), Houston (9%), San Antonio (7%), and El Paso (6%). The lowest ranked cities were Buffalo, NY, and Pittsburgh, PA, who each scored a dismal 2%.

This is cool, but I'm still looking for a good Austin indie music blog ala Gorilla vs. Bear or You Ain't No Picasso. Austinist covers the scene fairly well for previews but doesn't have enough show reviews. Anyway have anything? The Rich Girls Are Weeping was the closest I found and they moved a while back.
Surprising. Nearly every national blogger I read seems to live in Brooklyn.
Carter check out Ultra8201.com (it's mine) as well as Sonic Itch Music, Both Sides of the Mouth, Side One : Track One, or Austin Sound. I agree with the part of mostly previews but there are reviews from time to time.
