Austinist Festival Giveaway: Small talk about Girl Talk & DJ Jester

We’ll admit it. We love Girl Talk. The sight of some normal looking person leaning over the laptop on a stage generating all kinds of musical mayhem is pretty standard nowadays. And there is no one we’d rather prefer at the helm than this Pittsburgh lad named Gregg Gillis. Gillis shared his past Austin experiences while also commenting on his “trial and error” approach to assembling beats when we last spoke with him leading up to SxSW 2007. Girl Talk’s performances during the festival made for some exhilarating dance parties, whether he was furnishing Emo’s with mad beats during the Pitchfork day party, or bringing in the a.m. hours with ridiculous mash-ups at Saengerrunde Hall at the Diesel-U-Music gala. Girl Talk headlines Stage 3 on November 3rd at 8:40 p.m. and we want you there, shaking your booty, making sexy time, and what not. Be sure to get there earlier than that on Saturday as DJ Jester The Filipino Fist takes the stage at 4:45 p.m. He has sent us a little video clip (check it out below!) demonstrating his inexhaustible enthusiasm for this year’s festival. And for good reason too -- besides his own personal stint, DJ Jester will also be spinning tunes as Grand Buffet’s DJ during their set immediately after his. DJ Jester has toured in the past with Of Montreal and Kid Koala, having met the latter while driving the Boca Burger mobile across the country!
