Austinist Giveaway: John Mayer @ ACL Studios. UPDATE: Congrats, winners!

As we promised earlier this week, here's your chance to score those coveted space-available tickets* to the John Mayer Austin City Limits taping at KLRU-TV studios.

Instead of the previously-announced 25, we're actually giving away 50 pairs of tickets to the first folks who enter.

KLRU-TV will be taping an episode of Austin City Limits this Thursday with singer-songwriter (and guitarist extraordinaire) John Mayer.

These days, the Grammy Award-winning artist routinely plays to packed amphitheaters and festival audiences. For die-hard Mayer fans, seeing him at the intimate ACL studios with its capacity of a few hundred and incredible acoustics is an opportunity not to be missed.

*Disclaimer: Winners will get two space available tickets each. These tickets do not guarantee admission. Once capacity is reached, doors will be closed and no one else will be admitted to the studio. (Ed Note: Generally speaking, KLRU only distributes as many space-available tickets as they believe they can accommodate. This, however, doesn't mean you shouldn't get there early.)

Update: Holy cow, that was fast. Congrats, winners! We'll be contacting you shortly.

so, if we didn't get an email, I guess that means we didn't get tickets?

Is there any way you guys could let us know when the winners have been contacted... so that if we didn't win we can know...?
Thanks :)

YAY! i just got an email saying i won tickets...

i'll be upset if i didn't get any tickets because i kept refreshing my screen since 1pm today waiting for an update. i'll be extremely disappointed and seriously question how this was handled.

Sorry if you didn't win, Curiosa. It was a giveaway contest for tickets that many, many people wanted. Congrats to the winners -- you should've received confirmation by now.

i understand that this show was in high demand. i just seriously doubt that i wasn't one of the first 50 people that signed up for this since i kept refreshing the page constantly. i sound like a sore loser but i'll live. just really sucks.

Hey Curiousa, that's the same thing that me and six of my friends were doing and I was the only one who got the email saying I won even though we all entered within seconds of each other. I think probably a lot of other people were doing the same.

Hey, anonymous winner:

Good for you for not scalping that extra ticket!

Congrats to the winners, I sadly wasn't one of them lol

holy smokes, folks! apparently this john mayer guy is HUGE. in other news, hundreds of people enter these contests, from what i understand. so, just keep trying, you may win. sending in your email and not winning is like saying you call radio stations immediately after hearing a giveaway and can't believe you keep getting a busy signal, or are shocked that you can't get access to tickets on ticketmaster on mornings of gigantic show releases. now get back to your algebra homework before your tears ruin all your hard work.

i have been a hug john mayer fan for years...and i am disheartened that he is going to be performing in my hometown and I did not "win" tickets...i am feeling you curiosa..

if anybody has an extra ticket...please email me...i would be so grateful

any extra tickets please email me audreyaad@yahoo.com...i really want to go very badly...i have been calling the hot line for 2 months..and i was on this site right at 1pm

I am an Idiot (but so is Craig)

I won tickets...
But still need to get there VERY EARLY

Anyone with an extra ticket? I just found out about this today!

Longtime fan, was out of the country last time he taped ACL, never seen a taping before. Happy to pay for the ticket, buy dinner, or otherwise contribute good karma.

Thanks!

seriously guys? John Mayer?

I will auction off a burned CD of crappy John Mayer songs from his forthcoming "Pandering to Low-Brow Music Tastes" double LP to any of the unfortunate souls who maintained their dignity by missing out on a live performance from one of our generation's most average musical "talents". Caller six gets the disc....

i won tickets, too. how early is very early? never been to an acl taping.

The thing about ACL tapings is that you have one of two choices: you can choose to be someone who tries to claim a stadium seat, or you can be someone who is content standing on the floor in front of the stage. If you want to sit, you need to get there early - say 1.5 hours early, depending on the popularity of the show, which still will not guarantee that any of the chair space will be open, but usually some people don't show up.

When the time arrives to allow the "general admission" tickets in (i.e. after the cut off time for the people with guaranteed seats who support KLRU and Austin City Limits with donations and such) the people at the front of the GA line will have the opportunity to claim any empty chairs or stand in the open area. (I doubt that they will have tables at this one....)

The GREAT thing is that ACL is pretty good about not giving out too many GA tickets, so pretty much everyone in line should get to see the show, be they standing or seated. And, you get free beer (if you're 21, of course.) This is a no lose situation in my opinion.

Congrats to all the winners! My ACL taping experiences have been something I will always remember - you are a part of a little piece of music history, especially since the studio will be moving downtown. And no matter what anyone says about John Mayer's musical genre choices or crazy facial contortions, the boy can totally rip on the guitar. I may not own any albums or really like his songs all that much, but even I can appreciate musical talent like that.

all the above may be an example of how pillow lips can truly serve a man.

i made it and it was amazing...there was no way i was going to miss this....THANK YOU
