Beaks of Fury: Alamo Drafthouse Presents The Birds Feast

Besides teaching you some life lessons and giving you avian flu, what has any winged creature really added to your life? We've come in contact with several pigeons in the area (who shall remain nameless) that will crap on your face as soon as look at you. Birds even managed to stop our city in its tracks! What better way is there to exact our revenge for past transgressions and flex our top-of-the-food-chain muscle than by picking up a fork and eating them?! In preparation for the horrors yet to come this Halloween season, the Alamo Drafthouse has crafted a Michelin worthy five course feast composed entirely of our fine feathered friends to be enjoyed in conjunction with the Alfred Hitchcock face-pecking classic The Birds.

Hitchcock is undeniably a master of suspenseful horror, and The Birds is a little venus filmtrap, luring the audience in with its sweet and innocent burgeoning love story nectar and then snapping its ravenous gore-hungry-jaws down on you with the force of a million pterodactyls. Using his patented quick-cut montage technique, you never actually see the beak-on-body action, which allows your imagination to run wild with agony. Whenever we watched this film as a child (yes, our parents were sadistic) we would walk outside and give every flying beast the stink eye, wondering when these seemingly peaceful creatures would decided to turn on us and all of humanity. Oh the horror! Oh the blood! Oh the deliciousness!

Speaking of deliciousness, let's not forget about the most important part of this: the FEAST! Emu, Quail, Partridge, Pheasant, Goose, and Ostrich. Basically, if it walks like a Duck and quacks like a Duck, then it is going to be eaten (and don't forget the eggs!) The second course will actually include five of these fowlicious treats stuffed into each other, à la Turducken, but better because the Alamo is making it and is including a full wine course. Now that's something to crow about (sorry, couldn't help ourselves.)
