Stylish Pet Events: Barkitecture and Rags to Wags


OMG, Barkitecture! Done laughing? Okay, if you love your dog bring your furry friend to 2nd Street District area tomorrow for Barkitecture Austin 2007 – a silent auction for dog-houses built by 20 of Austin’s architects, builders and designers.

All proceeds go directly to Animal Trustees of Austin, Lucky Mutts, Austin Dog Rescue and Blue Dog Rescue, which find homes for stray dogs.

Bidding starts at noon at Lofty Dog, there’s a live photo booth at 1 p.m., a Doggy/Human fashion show at 3 p.m. at Estilo, prize drawings at 4 p.m. at Lofty Dog, and an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. at Design Within Reach.

The event is free and open to the public. Hot dog!

Later in the evening is The Austin Human Society’s Rags to Wags, benefiting dogs and cats. Both models and walkers will prowl (or howl) on the catwalk at Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Rd.).

The show starts at 8 p.m., but get there at 7 p.m. for cocktails and a silent auction. Tickets are $125 and are available here.
