Keep Austin Good

First there was Keep Austin Weird, then Keep Austin Wired, Keep Austin Corporate— and, starting tomorrow, Keep Austin Good.

The first annual “Don’t Lose a Good Thing, Keep Austin Good” is sponsored by Los Angeles lifestyle magazine GOOD, and described in a press release as “part party, part information exchange,” bringing the spirit of fun and the commitment to Austin’s quality of life together.

Vendors and local businesses will hand out information about community issues and living a sustainable life at 5 p.m. in the Hotel San Jose parking lot (1316 S. Congress Ave.). Stick around for South Congress Fashion Show at 8 p.m., an a performance by rhythm and blues musician Barbara Lynn at 9 p.m. Then the party moves to Mohawk for a Loxsly and Master/Slave show, starting at 11 p.m.

Buying tickets is not required, but 20 smackers will get you 1) 6 issues of GOOD, 2) $2 off “adult drinks” at the Hotel San Jose lot and at Mohawk, and 3) all your $20 goes straight to Foundation Communities, a non-profit creating opportunities and affordable housing for low-income families and individuals. Now that’ll make you feel good!

For a list of vendors, sponsors and fashion show participants, go here. Tickets are available at the website and at Therapy Clothing (1113 S. Congress Ave.), the Hotel San Jose lobby and Progress Café (500 San Marcos St.).

Seems like "Keep Austin Good" being sponsored by a Los Angeles base company is contradictory and is just another silly little move to "Make Austin Dallas."
