Austinist Alert: AMF’s 2008 She Rocks Calendar & Release Parties

The Austin Music Foundation presents the third installment of its ever popular She Rocks Calendar Series this month. Created by Ricardo Acevedo and In The RA Studios, the calendar first debuted in 2006, and has since seen notable local female rockers such as Amber Dickerson of Full Stride, Margaret Myrick of Blackholicus, Cella Blue of White Ghost Shivers, and Stella Maxwell of Cruiserweight grace its pages. The first edition’s proceeds were collected for New Orleans musicians along with other Katrina hit residents of the city. This year, like last year, the proceeds will go to AMF to further education for local musicians, specifically for programs like AMF’s Music Industry Boot Camp.

Follow the jump for details on the 2008 calendar and more!

The 2008 Calendar features talented ladies such as Patrice Pike, Deb O’Keefe from ME Television and 101X FM, the women of Hell’s Belles and The Applicators, Christine Ely from She Craves, and Kristin Bybee from Sabbath Crow, among others.

The Calendar can be purchased (for $12.99) at Waterloo Records and CDFuse following the first release party, scheduled for this Saturday at Momo’s. A second event at Elysium follows in November. A who’s who of local female musicians will, no doubt, provide the music:

October 20th (Momo’s): Hope Irish, Full Stride, Shelly Knight & The Livin’ Dead, & Velvet Brick

November 8th (Elysium): One-Eyed Doll, Melanie Price, Lady Legacy, & Black Molly
