Fashion Bits!

  • We are pleasantly surprised to hear that former UT alum Elisa Jimenez is a contestant for the upcoming season of Bravo’s Project Runway. We chatted up this uber-creative lady earlier this year at an in-store fashion-show/performance during SXSW at Factory People, where she sold several hand-stitched jersey dresses and tops.

Trained as a sculptor and with a background in making large-scale marionettes, Elisa became an “accidental" fashion designer after someone discovered her at a party, wearing one of her whimsical creations. Since then she’s stitched frocks for Cher, Courtney Love and Pink. See what this former Austinite is capable of when the season begins Nov. 14.

  • October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month (explaining the vast amount of cotton candy-pink products on the market). Saks Fifth Avenue (Arboretum Market, 9722 Great Hills Trail) is doing its part with Key To The Cure. Today through Sunday, a percentage of its proceeds is going to Fertile Hope of Austin, a nonprofit providing "reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility."

  • Last but not least, Austin Tidbits clued us into a nifty Holiday Shopping Card. Read about the benefits here.
