Austin Show Preview: The Donnas at The Parish

According to their MySpace page, buxom AC/DC impersonators The Donnas "are for real and are here to stay", just in case you were wondering. Suffice it to say, they've paid their dues over the course of seven albums with their brand of unabashedly referential rock 'n' roll and still soldier on, recently starting their own label for a new release. Ours is not to judge their swaggering shred, however, just to inform you that the female foursome is playing this evening at The Parish and would be obliged if you were so inclined to show up and toss up the devil horns for a spell. LA's Donita Sparks will be on hand to do her best Joan Jett, while Nashville good ol' boys American Bang open with classic riffs that wouldn't be out of place in the intro sequence to That 70's Show. Which is not to say they sound anything like Big Star.

Anyway if you're down for a Thursday night of dumb fun, you should come out.
