Austinist Show Preview: the Avengers with Pansy Division, the Ape Shits, and Common Criminal @ Red 7

For those of you with a hankering for some nostalgic punk rock, we recommend getting a double shot and checking out the Avengers and Pansy Division tonight. The recently reunited Avengers are on their first ever national tour. One of the key components of the San Francisco punk scene, the Avengers were influential despite being relatively short lived. The line-up for this tour includes two of the original members: the hot as hell frontwoman, Penelope Houston, and guitarist Greg Ingraham.

Opening for the Avengers are Pansy Division. The queercore outfit is back in the saddle, not only touring but preparing to release a new LP to be released on Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles label. Pansy Division churn out punk rock full of sharp, playful lyrics. We only hope they'll be running through classics like "Femme in a Black Leather Jacket." Also performing will be the Ape Shits and Career Criminal.
