Austinist Show Preview & Giveaway: Sunset Rubdown at Emo's

Tonight, Canada will officially move south, as Spencer Krug's beautiful brainchild Sunset Rubdown will grace this Texas town with crazy keyboards, arcane guitars, and a variety of other weapons of musicanery. Their just-released Random Spirit Lover, appreciated by critics all the continent-wide, is certain not to disappoint...unless, of course, you hate eerily strange pop music wrapped danger-tight with eccentricity.

Follow the jump for more information on this event and the chance to win a pair of guest spots!

Batting before Krug's mystifying cosmology will be none other than fellow Wolf Parade offspring Johnny and the Moon, a four-piece whose debut album is an idiosyncratic milkshake of mid-century folk and electrified indie rock. Led by former Hot Hot Heat guitarist Dante DeCaro, Johnny and the Moon should provide a fine contrast to Sunset Rubdown's spiderwebs.

Yet another Montreal band (does that city have an endless supply?), the psych-prog outfit Magic Weapon, will open.
