New Alamo Drafthouse Slated To Open Nov. 2nd...or 1st

If you're like us and received that leopard print e-flyer ("because your email was obtained from nightclub events or entertainment promotions in the Austin area") proclaiming the entrance of the ultra-hip Pangaea night club into the old Alamo Drafthouse downtown location, you were probably wondering when the new Drafthouse location would be up and projecting inside what used to be Ritz on 6th.

And so were we. Until we cruised over to the Drafthouse Blog, where were delighted to find out some inside info on the grand opening.

If all goes according to plan, their doors will open November 2. Or, if we're lucky, they may open them up November 1—just in time, perhaps, for a Terror Thursday debut. The buzz is being planted on the net and the pressure is on to give Austin movie fans and visiting festivals a fresh spin on a familiar, uniquely Austin, cinema experience.

After the jump is an excerpt from the blog.

"...there are door frames installed everywhere. There were also some doors sitting in the lobby, waiting to go up. Manager's office is completely walled in and more sound insulation is going up in Theater 2. There is also the beginning of tile work in the area right outside of the bathrooms and the elevator just needs buttons and power to be complete. Also, there were a couple of guys working on the ceiling of Theater 1, it looked like they were texturing it."
