This Week in Theatre: New! Wacky! Funny!
There're some krazy kapers going on this week in theatre. From a drag-king musical to a one-woman show, the sisters are doing it for themselves. We've also got a brand spankin' new theatre company to tell you about. Read on!
First, don't tell your neighbors, but some thespians have moved in up the street; North by Northwest Theatre Company opens its inaugural season on Friday with The Nerd. Larry Shue's "houseguest from hell" comedy is one of those plays that never fails to please. With the award-winning chops behind NxNW Theatre, we expect this production to be top notch. They're not in a permanent space yet, so check 'em out in their temporary home at the Tree of Life IPPC. Through 11/4, Fr/Sa at 8pm and Sun at 5pm. Reservations online.

Next, the brilliant folks of Kings N Things are mounting a musical for your enjoyment: Drag Kings: The Musical! Normally playing in smoky bars, the Kings have taken up residence at the Off Center for this weekend only (Fri/Sat at 9pm and Sun at 7pm). With such stage names as Trevor N. Deavor, Luce Cannon, and Cherry Poppins, these women know how to throw a royally fun bash. The show includes music from Cabaret, Best Little Whorehouse, Chicago, Sound of Music, Hedwig, and even some American Tail. Don't we all love American Tail? Reservations via email.
Finally, over at the Vortex and also this weekend only (Thu/Fri/Sat at 8pm), Reppy performs her latest one-woman music and comedy show ReppyToire: A Tour de Farce, in which she "provides a devastatingly delightful blend of character comedy, original music, sketches, and audience participation, alternating between more than 20 different personas." Previous Reppy shows have sold out, so call up the Vortex and reserve your seats now if you want to catch this one. Reservations: 478-LAVA.
