SOB: Save Our Breasts
FACT: In 2007, there will be 181,510 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the U.S. alone. Of those diagnosed, nearly 41,000 will succumb to the disease.
AWESOME FACT: When detected early, breast cancer has a 96% survival rate.
This Wednesday, join Mayor Wynn and members of Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Austin Affiliate to kick off National Breast Cancer Month and celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Austin’s Race for the Cure. To celebrate the 10th annual fundraiser, Komen Austin is announcing their “Power of Ten” campaign in coordination with next month’s race.
The idea behind this new initiative is simple – Donate $10 and encourage ten other people to do the same. By doing so, those ten folks have generated enough funding to provide a mammogram for one Austinite. If 20,000 Race participants successfully raised $10 from 10 friends, Komen for the Cure would have an additional $2 million to expand education, screening and support programs throughout their five-county service area.
That’s a whole lot of breast savin’, and that's a good thing.

It's not just breast-saving, it's LIFE saving. Sure, boobs are nice and all, but the incentive should be to help save lives, not just tits.
