I'm looking into my crystal ball. All is hazy.

Wait! I am seeing into Austin's future!

I see...more teardowns on the eastside. More condos downtown. The suburbs of Austin converging on the suburbs of San Antonio. Another popular local eatery will lose its lease, prompting insufferable debate. One of the Wilson brothers will film a movie here soon.

The crystal ball goes black! End prophecy.

Individual tickets at $45 each are open seating.

An upgraded sponsor table for $600 includes reserved seating for 10 in a priority location, a table sign, and listing in the event program and on electronic signage.

Waste Of Time. Duany somehow believes Austin isn't dense enough for rail transit yet, but somehow we can magically make it denser even while everybody drives so we CAN get to rail nirvana.

The first ignores every other recent city in the country which has succeeded just fine with light rail despite most being less dense than Austin on the work end of the journey. Portland was less dense on the business end of their line when they started than we are now by a long-shot. So was Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake, etc.

The second is just pure lunacy - how are you going to convince companies to locate office buildings downtown when there's no way for them to get there but Mopac and I-35?

i know this is absolutely terrible, and it makes me miss home just thinking about it (actually, maybe it doesn't), but when my father visited, he walked by that statue and he said, "you know, what is it with these southerners? it's like she's getting ready for the pogrom!"

and dammit! every time i pass that statue, i just think of that and laugh and cringe at the same time.

only in new york!

i mean only a new yorker. in texas.
