Texas Misidentifies State Dinosaur

It looks like our state legislators elected the wrong dinosaur to represent us as the official mascot of Texas: a new report claims that the bones found in North Central Texas, previously believed to be those of a pleurocoelus, are actually from an altogether different species.

Southern Methodist University graduate Peter Rose devoted his master's thesis to studying the bones, which were discovered near the Paluxy River back in the 90s. Discrepancies arose when he compared these to similar fossils at the Smithsonian; the samples had vastly different leg and shoulder bones.

The new, unknown species has been named "paluxysaurus."
