Austintoxicants: Oktoberfest (Guten Tag, Y'all)
If you're not headed to the real thing, there are quite a few Oktoberfest events around town this year. So, ready your stomach for schnitzel, brats, liters of beer, and old dudes in lederhosen and retire to one of the area's best pubs for some Austin-style Deutschamerikaner action.

Eight Oktoberfest beers on draught throughout the month of October. Gingerman will be hosting an annual benefit for Blue Dog Rescue (www.bluedogrescue.com) on Sunday, October 21st from 2-9pm — Dogtoberfest! Featuring live music, beer, food, raffle and silent auction items. All proceeds from the event go directly to the organization. Also, Mondays starting at 6pm the pub gives away glassware for the featured beer of the day (while supplies last). Each Monday in October a different Octoberfest beer will be featured. No cover.

Finally, if you're in the mood for a road trip there's the very popular Oktoberfest Fredericksburg Texas (Oct. 5, 6, 7) and homebrewer nirvana the Houston Dixie Cup (Oct. 19-20). Happy imbibing!
