A Short Story Contest ... If You're Not Too Scared.
If you're still in college and think you can scare the bejeezus out of someone in 1,000 words or less, the Writers' League of Texas is looking for you. Whether you've got a traditional campfire ghost story, a cutting-edge literary experiment, or anything at all that Stephen King hasn't already done, they want to see it.
A $5 entry fee (and $15 student League membership dues) lets you channel your demons onto paper, enter to win fabulous prizes, and help refill the coffers of this nice nonprofit professional organization.
The annual College Horror Short Story Contest is for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a Texas college or university. The winner scores two hundred bucks — think of all of the steeply discounted, leftover Halloween candy you could rake up with cash like that!
The deadline is October 31st, so get to writing. Check out their guidelines and snag an entry form here.
