Football Preview: Texas vs. Kansas State
#7 Texas (4-0) vs. Kansas State (2-1)
Time: 2:30 pm, Saturday, Sept. 29
Location: Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium
TV: KVUE (ABC)
Radio: KVET (98.1 FM, 1300 AM)
As the Kansas State Wildcats come to town this week, the Texas Longhorns insist they don't have revenge on their minds, but it would be easy to allow them that sentiment.
When the two teams met last year in Manhattan, Kansas, Texas was on top of the Big 12 Conference and eyeing an appearance in a major bowl game. The Longhorns left town with a loss, an injured quarterback, and no chance of defending their national championship.
Kansas State is 3-2 against Texas since conference play began in 1996, one of only two teams (Oklahoma is the other) with a winning Big 12 record against Texas. Also, the last three games between the Longhorns and the Wildcats have been decided by four points or less. Kansas State won last year, 45-42, and Texas won the two previous meetings, 24-20 and 17-14.
Texas is coming off a 58-14 blowout win over Rice where the Longhorns were dominant in every phase of the game against a weaker opponent. Quarterback Colt McCoy threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns, receiver Limas Sweed caught five passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Jamaal Charles scored three TDs.
Kansas State had a bye week last week, giving them two weeks to prepare for the Longhorns. In the Wildcats' last game, they romped over Missouri State, 61-10. Receiver Jordy Nelson was the standout, catching 15 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown, and throwing a TD pass as well.

Game Notes
Remember the Titans: Former Longhorn stars Vince Young, Michael Griffin, Bo Scaife, and Ahmard Hall are expected to be in town this weekend for the game. All four are members of the NFL's Tennessee Titans, who do not play this Sunday. Young is also scheduled to appear at 10 am Saturday at Scholz Garten to meet fans.
Don't Forget Your Power Towel: Kansas State has taken some ribbing this season over this video, where head coach Ron Prince and several players remind fans, "Don't forget your power towel" and mascot Willie the Wildcat shreds on guitar to his signature cheer.
It's Tricky: In last year's win, Kansas State surprised Texas with trick plays, including two in a row that led to a Wildcats touchdown. Kansas State has already pulled out the gadget plays this season, with receiver Jordy Nelson throwing a pass two weeks ago against Missouri State.
Longhorn Injuries: Starting defensive end Brian Orakpo (knee) is out, as is one of his backups, Eddie Jones (shoulder). Linebacker Sergio Kindle is also out after injuring his knee last week against Rice. Starting defensive back Brandon Foster, who missed last week's game with a quadriceps injury, is expected to return, as is offensive tackle Adam Ulatoski, who has missed the last two games with an elbow injury.
Opponents to Watch: The Wildcats have star players at the skill positions. Senior wide receiver Jordy Nelson has 30 receptions in three games this season, and sophomore quarterback Josh Freeman is big (6-6, 250), fast and has a strong arm. Freeman has completed 83 of 132 passes this season for 827 yards. Senior running back James Johnson has rushed for 239 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Big 12 Opener: Saturday is the opening game of Big 12 conference play for both teams. Last season's loss to Kansas State ended Texas' 21-game conference win streak and was the Longhorns' first regular-season loss to a Big 12 North school in seven years.
Rivalries Ahead: Following Saturday's matchup, both Texas and Kansas State will head into games with big rivals. The Wildcats will host the Kansas Jayhawks on Oct. 6, while the Longhorns travel to Dallas to face the Oklahoma Sooners.

My power towel's all crusty.
If I see one K State fan without a power towel, I'll be very disappointed.
