Ear to the Ground: White Williams Tonight With Dan Deacon

By now, the media buzz surrounding blogger darling and dance party curator Dan Deacon has made his upcoming gig at Mohawk chatter-worthy (after his performance at Emo's earlier this summer, party animals who missed the event started marking their calendars) and his career absolutely viable: he's toured with Girl Talk, and only needs to press 'play' to get a news item on Pitchfork.
Rather than remind you (again) to go check him out, we'd like to urge you to get there early, because his support this tour is none other than Joe Williams, aka White Williams, another Gregg Gillis tour buddy and Tigerbeat 6 artist that brings an invigorating live set for those of you ready to shake tail.
His debut, Smoke, sat on our shelf way too long simply because it's terrifying-looking: a hookah positioned between two women blows the title into the air against a wood-paneled wall. The smoking women appear inside the disc as well, closeups illuminating the neon ooze that drips from their eyes. The imagery is glossy futuristic Kraut decadence, lacquered lipstick and multi-colored accents that give the listener absolutely no idea what to expect. Because of this, we were slow to pick it up, but we were glad when we finally did: Williams' music is catchy, layered dance music that fuses '80s influences like Erasure and more recent, futuristic dance pioneers like Hot Chip with ease. It's computer music, but it excels where other digital artists lack in its pursuit to actually arrange songs. The "casually heterosexual" backbeats, multi-instrumentation including flute, synths, and guitars, and focused yet angular arrangements remind us of art rock pioneers of the past, like Talking Heads circa More Songs About Buildings & Food.
Do check him out tonight, but don't dance too hard, we hear Dan Deacon has a space shuttle landing at midnight with futuristic alien dance partners for the first row of enthusiastic fans.

This is supposed to make me want to listen to this shit?
Right on. I'm sick of all this lame-ass computer- bullshit-dance-music, as well as all the DJ bullshit that everyone creams about. It's boring as hell to watch someone fuck around on a computer. Wonder where the after-party is so we can all go and watch the same dude spin some cool records? Can't wait to make the A-List this weekend!!!
The only real reason to go to the afterparty is to watch in horror as a 15 year old chick with limp black hair hanging into her souless black eyes strips down to her shit stained thong and flaps around her pancake flat boobs at all her best girl friends.
That and the coke.

oh yeah, some of those images are nsfw. most of them are nsfh(umanity).
yeah, fuck that. im not going either. im just gonna smear butter and lipstick on my face while drawing pictures of my mom and plotting my daily random email attacks. then, im going to get out of bed at some point to eat a stale cheeto. i rule.
Can someone explain something to me?
What are "casually heterosexual backbeats", and are they dangerous to listen to while I'm having Formal Gay Sex?

That's enough to turn my stomach casually homosexual.
Poor Carla, all those pictures were dedicated to her!
Those weren't the right ones, but the set that was really disgusting and nsfw was in another city. Never has nudity been so repulsive but it makes sense when the nudists have track marks.
Yeah but those pictures were from Austin! And, I don't have to see 'em nekkid to feel bad for ole Carla!
