Austinist Show Preview: The Midgetmen & Human Being Lawnmower at The Mohawk
The Midgetmen are at it again in their pursuit of good times, rock 'n’ roll, and beer. The lovable local pop-punk outfit is working on material for a third full-length record. As per bassist Marc Perlman, “The goal is to have something recorded for a late spring 2008 tour.” The band has quite a few new tracks in the works already and their latest show this Saturday at The Mohawk should offer a preview. And a complete line-up of The Midgetmen is expected since guitarist Alex Victoria “has not hung himself from the rafters of his garage” despite Notre Dame’s start to the College Football season.
Assisting their cause in debauchery this time are Human Being Lawnmower who, besides kicking out some mean jams, are influenced by kolaches, samosas and assorted Batman shows (according to their MySpace page). The Last Gasp offer introspective indie-rock while equally thoughtful alt-country from Mice & Rifles add some softer moments of brilliance to what promises to be a showcase of Austin’s musical versatility.

The Midgetmen are the best band in Austin. And by "best" I mean "drunkest."
