Yeah.. that's a bit of an exaggeration. I was sitting in my car near the com building and walked to the building as soon as I heard the announcement... I was probably 7th in line.

I was tenth in line for Arcade Fire tickets and didn't start walking over there until the announcement was made (I didn't notice this posting this morning and had to wait for the official announcement to make sure it wouldn't be at Jo's, or something). It does sound like the line size was exaggerated. Sorry you didn't score tickets. Good luck with yr future endeavors.

I heard the announcement, parked illegally, and ran upstairs in time for tickets. I saw no line, I think word of the line was greatly exaggerated. the line for regina was maybe 10 deep when those opened.

See you at the wilco drop!

Um, I was there and I got tickets. There was not 75 people lining up for tickets. Maybe, around 15-20 people lined up. It was funny to see all the people running over to the Comm building to get tickets though. I made it back to San Antonio in time for my 12:15 class and cant wait for tomorrow.

in my opinion KUT did a pretty crappy job of handling this. i left work to go grab tickets at the communications building where, unless you work at the communications building or are a police officer, parking is nonexistent. even when i managed to park illegally and head to the desk, not even 5 minutes after the on air announcement, i was met only by many disappointed fans. From what they told me, there were a lot of people (read: more than 75, which is all it took to expend their full ticket load) lining up before the on air announcement was even made. So, they were pretty much gone before listeners were made aware of their "availability".

i knew arcade fire would be a huge draw and chances are i wouldn't score tickets. i didn't have a problem with that. but how hard would it have been to do a quick head count and realize there was no point in making an announcement? Or if there were tickets left after the count, at least paint a more realistic picture of people's chances. It's not like this was a sponsored Mountain Dew Pespi Cola 101X ticket promotion either. It's public radio for crying out loud.

oh well. im probably just complaining for complaining's sake, but it seems like a valid point.

thanks for the tip austinist. and please continue to support KUT. but if you see john aielli tell him to maybe think about getting his shit together. and that the vowel to consonant ratio in his last name is very impressive.
