Snapshots: Town Lake Park Now Open

The biggest thing to hit downtown Austin since the Frost Bank Tower is now open. With last night's opening ceremonies, the soon-to-be-renamed Town Lake Park has shed itself of those unsightly chain-link fences and is now welcoming all Austinites to its friendly confines.

Check out what we had to say about it. Or check out some flickr photos from people who were able to make it out yesterday.

Hey! Aren't you guys supposed to tell us about stuff like this BEFORE it happens?

grrr

Go back in time to last week and check the "Town Lake Park Opens Next Week" post linked in this post.

doood, you didn't remind us the day of (preferrably with just enough notice for us to make it down there), so you might as well have just not told us about it.

You expect us to actually plan ahead?

Looks like a raver's delight!

It's AWESOME! They did a great job! The fountains are gorgeous. I went last night and had a great time splashing around!

Yeah, you gotta tell us on the day of. The week before might as well be a year off.

you aint missed nothing. those pretty fountains and lights are permanent. as in every night, every 15 minutes or so. it's like the bellagio minus the canned music.

Shouldn't it be called Lady Bird Lake Park?

I'm going to venture a guess and say its nothing like Bellagio - I think the entire park is smaller than the fountain pond at B.
