Details Emerge on the Newsom Orchestral Performance

NEWSOM.ADMAT.jpgUPDATE: We called Frontgate this morning, and were informed that the tickets will indeed be general seated admission. Tickets will be $35 with a $5.50 service fee.

As promised, here are the specifics (as many as we have) on the Joanna Newsom performance with the Austin Symphonic Orchestra in October we mentioned earlier this week.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning (August 30) at 10:00 a.m., through Frontgate Tickets, and they are $35 a pop. Although we can't find any information on the time the show will start, if you're interested in going, it's only a matter of days before either Drag City, Riverbend Centre or Frontgate finally get around to adding those details to their sites. You may call Frontgate at 512.389.0315 to charge by phone.

Until then, we'd like to congratulate our winner, Tim, and encourage you all to check back in October, when we'll send another happy couple to see the chanteuse's brilliantly arranged epics about elves and shit. It's sure to be a fantastic show ... and Bill Callahan will be back from tour, so, you know.

D@mn...guest #13 got scary, real quick... We should send him to Iraq...any more volunteers that can blow themselves up?

We should start recruiting here in the comments section of music articles...there are a lot of haters out there.

don't you think blowing yourself up is a little extreme? i know you feel your life would be complete after seeing your favorite band, but can't you find something else to live for?

  • guest

Ooooh. That'd be wonderful #12. I'll bring the dynamite.

  • guest

My performance with the Symphony Orchestra would be fabulous. It would involve lots of heavy explosives and much bloodshed.

  • guest

ooh, that sounds excellent #9. in return for being so generous, i'll treat you to the next nickelback show here.

  • guest

Gotta admit, that was kind of funny though ([9]).

  • guest

Guest # 9...I can't wait for YOUR performance with the Austin Symphony Orchestra. I bet your better than her, huh?

Hey, any of you nerds wanna come over to my house and listen to the rats squeek in the walls? I might even be able to run outside and catch a toddler and we can listen to it babble. If you're really lucky and I'm in a good mood, we can listen to both while I play the record from 2001 on my turntable. It'll be like a Joanna Newsom mash up. Only $30 to get in. AND this time I'll make the coffee for you instead of you making it for me (since I've only heard this woman whining from coffee shops I assume you all work at one).

well, um, at least parking isn't a worry.

  • guest

Yeah, but first come first serve...this thing is gonna be like an ACL taping, people there 8 hours ahead of time.

Just my preference, but I would pay a LITTLE more to KNOW I have a good seat. NO?

Don't get me wrong, I bought me a tik. Just unhappy with the organizers choice. Oh well...at least it's happening.

GA????? With a Symphony...that sux, no offense, but are we standing?????????????

  • guest

that's what i'm afraid of. i have class at 10, so i hope my friend will be able to get good seats. i was hoping since it was through front gate and there was only one price, that it might mean it was general admission.

  • Elizabeth S.

#1 - Most likely it will be reserved seating; that's what they have done for the ALO when they have performed at Riverbend.

  • guest

is it general admission or reserved seating?
