Dallas Movie Still In the Works
(Via AICN) Just a few short weeks after Janis Burklund of the Dallas Film Commission commented that everyone could "chill on [a Dallas movie] a little longer", Variety is reporting that the project is once again moving forward--only this time, it's being rewritten as a comedy, with Betty Thomas attached to direct (you probably know her best as the director of Doctor Dolittle, Private Parts and The Brady Bunch Movie... so, um, yeah).
Maybe we're being overly conspiratorial here, but we wonder if the change in tone has anything to do with Time Magazine's suggestion that the original story's negative portrayal of Texans could disqualify the production from the Texas Film Incentives Program. More than likely, though, it's because schlocky film adaptations of of old TV shows make mad bank.
In any event, it's still not clear how much of the film will actually be shot in Texas, or if we'll be cast as an extra. Time will tell.
