Shoot Fake Infants at the Alamo This Thursday
So apparently this new movie not only makes Paul Giamatti into a bad guy, but also features a gunplay scene filmed entirely while the principal battlers are falling from airplanes, as well as several semi-dangerous-looking gunfights with a human infant in the middle of the proceedings. Clive Owen is the good guy—once again, as in "Children of Men", protecting a baby that's not his own (come on guys, doesn't Clive Owen deserve his own freaking child to shelter, for once?) Oh yeah, Monica Bellucci smolders her way through the thing, too.
Shoot 'Em Up, which is the name of this most promising film, isn't opening until September, but Fantastic Fest is sponsoring a sneak preview at the Alamo on Thursday with director Michael Davis in attendance. Afterwards, everyone who goes to the screening will hang out and try to shoot live human targets (relax, you'll use paintballs) who will be tossing around a baby (relax, the baby will be fake).
Tickets to the whole shebang will be going, on a first come/first served basis, to Fantastic Fest badge holders, and are free if you do hold said badge (buy a badge here). If you are one of these lucky folks, you can reserve a seat by buying a food/drink voucher on the Alamo site.
Didn't buy a badge? The remaining tickets will be made available to the great unwashed on Wednesday, the 29th.
