Hello again, music lover! The Laurie Show on KUT 90.5 will be in full swing tonight, featuring great music by local (and formally local) artists whose CDs I now have in my grimy paws. Glee! Plus, I can guarantee you that once again, your live music calendar is going to be rather booked this coming weekend.

There'll be a special treat on my show this evening: Be sure to catch my interview with DJ Chris Rose of the ever-fabulous Car Stereo Wars. He'll talk about his special CD release party taking place tomorrow night at the Beauty Bar, with live music by White Denim and Single Frame.

Now listen up: The very inexpensive cover charge gets you a copy of the Car Stereo Wars super duper mega mash-up CD, The Bandit, for free. That's FREE. The best price ever. Get on up and get on out, peeps. Thanks again to Chris Rose for taking the time to chat with me, and to the brand-spankin' new local label Artifact Workshop Records. More interviews coming soon!

Oh. Two words: Burt Reynolds. Just remember that.

Also on my humble program tonight will be music from Viceroy, the latest CD by the now-San Francisco based Mark David Ashworth, and sneaky peaks of Prom Nite's upcoming release, Where Is It?...There Is It!, and Thor Harris' Fields of Innards. Special thanks are in order for Tommy McCutchon of Autobus Records and Jason Callahan of I Eat Records for supplying me with all of this great music to play.

It's a full night tonight, kids. I've been reminding everyone that my peeps over at KOOP 91.7 are having a benefit show at the Scoot Inn on E. 4th St. You can check out Peel, Horse + Donkey, Diagonals and The Notorious H.E.B., and show your support for community radio.

I'd also like to recommend seeing Rahdunes at Beerland on Red River. Megazilla, Tia Carrera, and Strange Attractors will get things started. Over at the Beauty Bar, Castaneda is in from Cali for a gig with The Lemurs. Great sounds all around.

Tomorrow is another lovely weekend for instores, and one of my favorite places, End of An Ear on S. 1st, is having one for Baby Robots' CD release, starting at 6 p.m. Horse + Donkey will also be on hand for more great music. Check it.

Tomorrow evening at Beerland, make way for extreme grooviness with The Ugly Beats, The Cynics and the Hex Dispensers. Speaking of groovy in the extreme, you absolutely do NOT want to miss the psych-out at Rockin' Tomato, 3003 S. Lamar, with The Tunnels, All In the Golden Afternoon, and the wonderful Christian Bland of The Black Angels tripping us all out with a solo set. Far out.

The Real Heroes will get things started for Ian Moore's show at Antone's on W. 5th St. tomorrow night, while over at the Scoot Inn, the bill includes Julien Decided, Ringo Deathstarr, Dazzling King Solomon, The Ostrich Tuning, and a DJ set by Psychotropic from Seattle. There's also a free gig to be found at Emo’s, Fresh Picked Music Vol. 1, featuring White Rabbits, the Gore Gore Girls, The Clutters, and The Architects.

On Sunday, make your way over to the Parish for a show by Centro-matic, with Grand Champeen and Edward Burch.

A couple of weekday gigs I'd like to suggest are Tuesday's free monthly Jungle Rockers show at the Parish, featuring performances by Kissinger and One Mississippi; and live jazz performances at Progress Coffee on E. 5th St. Please tell Joshua Bingaman that Laurie from KUT sent you, by the way.

Oh man. I gotta hurry and do music selection! Lots of stuff to fit into four hours tonight. You know the drill: 11 p.m. to 3 in the frickin' morning, 90.5 on the FM, or do the streaming meemies if you have to. And, in the prolific words of our pal RoboCop, thank you for your cooperation.
