More on the mine catastrophe and mining industry at LAist.

http://laist.com/2007/08/17/media_kills.php#more

While it is tragic; did they not say at the start of the search for the miners that they only had enough supplies for a few days? Why on Earth do we decide that risking the lives of others to try and find people that we are quite sure are dead is the good thing to do? Its alomst as if its a media ploy to make more people look like "heroes."

I'm sorry, but there are times when you just have to cut your losses and start letting people cope with the fact that their family members are probably not coming back. All of the attention and coverage is most likely creating false hope among the families of the trapped/deceased.
