NPS 2007: Day Four

Only two days remain in this year's National Poetry Slam. This time on Sunday, new team and indy champs will have been crowned...until next year's slam in Madison, WI. The Parish and the 501 Studios Soundstage [map] join Antone's, Ruta Maya, and Dominican Joe as 25 teams face off in the Team Semi-Finals. All venues at 7pm. We won't know the semi-finalists at press time, but you can always check the official NPS site later in the day to catch the big news!

The Paramount hosts Individual Finals on Friday; Team Finals on Saturday. Doors open at 8pm and the competition kicks off at 9pm. As we've mentioned, last year's finals sold out, so you should order your tickets now if you plan to attend. Tickets are general admission, $30 per night (once you add all the handling fees and such).

Daytime Programming

Friday
Things are winding down, but there are a few daytime events yet to be held! We love nerds, so we're going to point you to the Nerd Slam, 12:45pm at Antone's, and the Revenge of the Nerd Legends Showcase, 2:30pm at the Hideout. We have to wonder...aren't all poets nerds? Presumably they show their extra nerdy sides at these nerdy events.

Saturday
Wrapping things up, the always-outstanding Youth Slam is at Ruta Maya at 3:15pm. You'll be sure to see some Austin's Under-21 Slam Team, as well as plenty of other amazing young poets.

Late Night Events

Only one late night event remains: the legendary Karaoke with Your Host Shappy, held tonight at Team Ego's headquarters. That would be Ego's, of course. 11pm. We smile just thinking of how much fun we know our friends had last year at this event. (To our woe, we were unable to attend.)
