The Idiots are at it again. St Idiot Collective, that is. They've got another quirky, brainy, unique production in the works. One never knows what the Idiots will get up to next, and this project is no exception.
Rainbow Family of the Serendipitous Now or The Orpheous Project (that's a mouthful) is an original work written by SIC member Adrienne Dawes and developed collaboratively with the company. The piece is an adaptation of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth—that's the one about the poet and musician (Orpheus) who travels into the Underworld to retrieve his wife (Eurydice). As they return together, he's instructed to walk ahead of her and not look back, but of course he boggles the move and loses her forever. Or...until his own (rather nasty) death.
Described as "a psychedelic light show and sonic burst, the story of a cartoon commune that caravans through the underworld in search of their lost love and leader," this should prove to be one trippy show. It opens tonight (with a gala sponsored by Tito's!), and closes next Saturday. We've got a pair of tickets to next Friday's show, 8/17, 8pm at Salvage Vanguard Theatre.
Congratulations to our winner!
If you want to pick up tickets on your own, get 'em here for the perfectly lovely price of $10. (They're $12-15 at the door; next Thursday is Pay-What-You-Wish.)
