Therapy Clothing's Eco With An Edge Campaign
The biggest trend in fashion (and everything else) this year seems to be going green. With all of the talk about global warming and environmental conservation, the fashion industry has started responding by using sustainable fabrics and organic dyes. Now, boutique owner Jyl Kusche from Therapy Clothing is jumping on the bio-diesel bandwagon.
Eco With An Edge is Therapy’s new campaign. The shop is expanding with eco-friendly inventory, such as canvas shopping bags, recyclable gift wrap and biodegradable cleansing products. Fifty percent of the clothing this fall will be sustainable and organic, meaning none of the fabrics (cotton, bamboo, soy, seaweed, and corn) used were sprayed with pesticides or treated with chemicals. Jyl plans to increase this percentage to 75 by the spring.
“We’ve always been concerned with the environment and had intelligent, environmentally conscious consumers,” Jyl said in a press release. “Now that there are more designers sharing those concerns, we can make a difference.”

Kudos to Jyl at Therapy for being so bold and smart, in addition to being so stylish. As a longtime window shopper of that boutique, caught somewhere between disposable fashion whore and ardent recycling advocate, i am ever so pleased to know that my future window peepings will reveal all new, eco-conscious designer duds to covet. I say 'covet' because a college students budget has all too rarely afforded myself a lucky purchase from that store.
I hope that Therapy's 'Eco-Conscious with an Edge' campaign will spread the message that shoppers just down the road at EcoWise have known for years. Our dollars are our votes. Each consumer's choice represents an opportunity to do less harm. And now that Jyl has taken matters into her hands, maybe many more fierce ladies will recognize that the green revolution needn't be all crunchy granola flavored Birkenstocks. (Thank heaven, i won't be needing those anymore!)
so three cheers for therapy and all the eco friendly fashion designers that are stepping outside the box.
Also, much deserved shouts out to the other eco-friendly fashion purveyors in the soco neighborhood, EcoWise and No-Comply Skateshop.
