Bungled Burglary in Northeast Austin Leaves One Dead

Would-be thieves attempting to rob a home in Northeast Austin last night were greeted by resistance from at least one of the residents, leaving one suspect dead.

Sometime before 12:30 a.m. this morning, several people broke into a house near Parmer Lane east of I-35. One resident was shot in the arm; another fought back, dealing one of the suspects an ultimately fatal blow.

By the time the police arrived, the rest of the thugs had fled, leaving their injured accomplice—a 350-pound man—"lying face down in a yard a few doors away." While initially conscious, the man abruptly stopped breathing and, from what we can tell, simply keeled over and died. Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

Austin police on the lookout for two or three suspects. Anyone with helpful information is asked to call 512-472-8477.

good to hear there weren't any longhorns involved.

Just more evidence that supports Perry's stance that everyone should carry guns.

Sorry, but this evidence shows that you can defend yourself without resorting to a gun, even against armed assailants.

yeah, a big texas shootout with everyone involved carrying guns and unloading at each other would have definitely been the best scenario. Then maybe they could all be dead, residents included. Everybody wins...er...wait.
