"Dre" Jones Apprehended, Mack Brown Lays Smack Down

In what's gotta be one of the worst ways ever to spend one's 18th birthday, UT freshman football player Andre Jones was arrested and thrown to Travis County Jail today. His bail is currently set at $40,000.

Jones, who now faces felony charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, was delivered even more bad news in the form of a statement issued by Longhorn coach Mack Brown.

From the Statesman Bevo Beat:

“We are disappointed to hear about the recent allegations against Dre Jones. They are very serious charges. We will cooperate with authorities through the legal process and support Dre any way we can. We’ve talked with Dre and his family and have decided to suspend him indefinitely. He will not be involved in any team functions at this time, pending the completion of the legal process.”

You know you've made it to the top tier of college football when your people start getting arrested. You can't really argue, thugs make for good players.
