Austin Police Trying to Hook this Longhorn

Austin police are on the lookout for a UT football player-turned-fugitive considered to be "armed and dangerous."

An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for 17-year-old Andre Jones, a freshman defensive tackle from El Paso known by some as "Big Dre." Jones faces first-degree felony charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Allegedly, Jones and his teammate, Robert Joseph, held up two victims at an East Austin student apartment residence last Friday. Joseph reportedly pointed a pistol to the head of one of the victims, a 14-year-old boy.

Jones, in turn, "made repeated gestures toward his waistband and made comments indicating he was also armed and would shoot anybody that moved," said Austin police detective Anthony Bigongiari.

The two thugs got away with cash, video game equipment and cell phones. Joseph was nabbed by cops almost immediately after the robbery. Jones was taken into custody by University of Texas police this morning.

Officials at the University of Texas athletics department have not yet commented on the case.

what a pity. The horns are gonna have to pawn their Godzillatron to make bail.

Standard youthful indiscretions. Who among us has not committed armed robbery of a 14 year old in our college days?

What a couple of douches. Video games are a total waste of time.

You know, I'd kinda rather have a shitty football team than go to sleep at night knowing my alma mater spends assloads of cash to import budding felons.

Nah, not really! Hook 'em!

I can't believe he's freakin 17. He looks 35.
